Navigating Tough Waters: Staying Strong When Life Feels Heavy

In difficult seasons of life, staying strong through faith has become the thing that grounds me the most.

God is within her, she will not fall.

46:5

Some seasons of life feel like calm water.

And some feel like you’re trying to steer a small boat through waves that keep coming from every direction.

Right now, life feels a little like the second one.

There’s a lot happening at once. New responsibilities, new goals, wedding planning, growing into a new family, building a future while trying to stay present in today. It’s exciting, but it’s also overwhelming in ways people don’t always see.

One thing I’ve noticed lately is that people often see me as the strongest woman in the room.

And if I’m being honest, sometimes I wish I could tell them that I feel the opposite.

Strength doesn’t always feel like strength when you’re the one carrying it.

There are moments when I feel tired, stretched thin, unsure of whether I’m doing enough or doing things the right way. Life has a way of testing you all at once—career pressures, relationships, responsibilities, expectations.

But even in the middle of that, I’ve realized something important:

I’m not giving up.

Not on my life.
Not on my dreams.
And not on God.

Lately, the thing that has been pulling me out of my toughest moments has been the simplest habit—opening my Bible and praying.

Not long prayers. Not perfect prayers. Just honest ones.

Sometimes it’s just a verse. Sometimes it’s a quiet moment where I admit that I don’t have everything figured out.

When I feel far from God, my instinct is to hide. To get quiet. To try to solve everything on my own.

But the more I grow in my faith, the more I realize something powerful:

You can’t outrun your purpose.

And you can’t do anything that makes you unworthy of God’s love.

That realization has changed the way I move through difficult moments.

Instead of trying to control everything around me, I’m learning to focus on how I show up in the world.

That means loving people the way God loves me.

Even when it’s not easy.

Even when it’s uncomfortable.

Even when the people around me are challenging.

That might look like:

• extending patience to a professor who grades tougher than I’d like
• accepting feedback from managers who push me to grow
• showing up for friends who need a listening ear
• choosing kindness even when I’m tired

It’s not always natural.

But it is always worth it.

Because the truth is, strength isn’t about never feeling overwhelmed.

Strength is choosing to keep going when you are.

Right now I’m learning how to live in a space that feels a little strange but also very meaningful:

Appreciating where I am today, while also dreaming about the future I’m building.

Some days feel like waiting.

Some days feel like growing.

Some days feel like both at the same time.

But I’m learning that life isn’t just about arriving somewhere better.

Sometimes the real work is learning how to be present while the story is still unfolding.

To trust that even the tough waters are leading somewhere good.

And if you’re in a season like that too—where life feels heavy but your heart is still hopeful—just know this:

You’re not alone in it.

And you’re stronger than you think.
